Gait Analysis for Movement Professionals

Saturday, September 20, 2025, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm PST

Livestreaming on Zoom

Walking is essential for optimal health, but what happens if your gait pattern is problematic for your feet, hips or spine?  An altered or inefficient gait pattern is the end result of all of the issues and imbalances throughout the body.  Everyone’s gait pattern will vary based on the day, environment, footwear, and how they feel.  There is not one best gait pattern, but there certainly are significant consequences to 10,000+ inefficient steps per day!

Gait analysis is an art based on an in-depth understanding of what is required for each phase of the gait cycle, and the ability to observe and identify patterns.  Movement professionals must be proficient at analyzing gait, determining what dynamic assessments will validate their hypothesis, and selecting exercises to help restore the capacity to walk better.

In this workshop, movement professionals will learn about the kinematics of gait, practice gait assessment while observing client videos and motion capture video, and discuss Pilates programming for common issues impairing efficient gait.

What you'll take away from this workshop:

  • Learn the phases of the gait cycle, and what occurs at each joint and throughout the myofascia during each phase.
  • Develop the ability to see and identify common gait issues.
  • Learn the source(s) of common gait abnormalities.
  • Practice gait analysis and using evaluation tools.
  • Learn how to use dynamic movement assessments and Pilates based exercises to enable clients to walk more efficiently.

Registration closes 24 hours prior to the start time of the workshop.  All sales final. Paid participants will receive a video recording with access for one week for online workshops only.  Click below to register OR sign up for both Lower Extremity workshops & RECEIVE 25% OFF at this link.

During this 3 hour workshop, participants will be guided through the applied anatomy and biomechanics of the foot, and will learn how to observe and interpret non-optimal alignment and movement patterns.

From there, students will practice using key Pilates exercises, modifications and clinical reasoning to unwind and restore dynamic control of the feet. We will explore the causes and rehabilitation of conditions including bunions, plantar fasciitis, plantar flexed first ray, neuromas, excessive supination and pronation, and flexible flat feet.
